Happy Sunday!
Here are two ideas to consider.
A couple of observations about plant transplanting are relevant to how we can adapt to a new society.
The size of the plant is determined by the size of the pot.
The shape of the plant is determined by the shape of the pot
Size is analogous to things like growth, growth potential, or growth rate. Shape pertains to morphology, parts, wholeness, wellness, and completeness.
Transplantation requires knowledge, care, preparation, and timing among other things. These two ideas are not necessarily part of the physical process itself, but they improve our capability from the onset.
We can use the metaphor of ourselves as a plant and society as a pot to examine what matters to us at any phase of our lives.
Transplanting a living organism is the essence of human migration. Society is the pot and all its contents.
What does this mean for the newcomer?
One thing is certainly clear: choose the pot carefully.
Until next time,
